Hi There! Thanks for visiting this website and allowing me into your life. I’m Rachel, a certified health and wellness coach, soul-care junkie, and student of what it means to live pono.
You might be wondering what an ancient Hawaiian approach to life has to do with our modern age? The short answer is because “pono” orients us to the present moment. Pono is a lens through which to live our days with purpose and consciousness. When we live pono, all the aspects of our lives – our health, careers, relationships, families, etc. – are in a balanced state.
Many of us are in autopilot mode and simply go through the motions. We pour into others at the sacrifice of our own well-being as we hustle, knock out our to-do lists, and repeat the cycle day-in, day-out. Far too many of us feel overworked, undernourished (and not just from the physical sense), or as though we’ve lost aspects of ourselves along the way.
And then we’re hit – jolted, even – with the realization that our lives look nothing like we once imagined them to look. Our health might be compromised, our relationships in disarray, our dreams shattered. We yearn for something more.
In all its layers of meaning and springboard for action, Pono graciously hands us a perspective shift. This is part of the deep work I’ve been doing – and continue to do – in my own life. And it’s the work I do with my clients.
I’d love to share a bit of myself with you – what I do as a health & wellness coach, why I chose this career, and how we can connect.
My journey toward living pono first took root years ago while I was living on the island of O’ahu. It was there that I woke up to the fact that I was a passive agent of my own life. I was misaligned in practically all realms of my life – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, relationally, and environmentally. The lack of balance had created a disharmonious union within my soul.
As time marched on and in between the bustle of daily demands, I continued to feel as though I was losing parts of myself. It wasn’t until I was hit with several subsequent life-altering blows that I woke up to the longings that lay deep within me.
I was jolted back to the memory of the woman who had been awakened on the beaches years before. This ignited my quest to bring the pono way of life back again.
As I’ve become more aligned with my truest self, my overall well-being has become more harmonious and aligned with my intrinsic values. It’s been a journey and will forever be. (You can read more of my story here.)
I gradually began to look into possible careers that were congruent with the work I was doing myself. I wanted to walk alongside others on similar journeys. This led me to the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy where I took part in a 12-month certification program. Shortly after completing my program, I started Pono Wellness Coaching.
I offer a safe, non-judgmental, supportive, and connective space for women to grow in self-awareness and make lasting shifts in all areas of wellness. During our work together, clients identify their current struggles and realities, create a wellness vision, and devise a plan for moving forward. Using foundational elements of functional medicine, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and positive psychology, my coaching approach weaves between my clients’ internal and external worlds as we explore these domains together.
I truly believe with all my heart that each of us is precious, worthy, and has so much to offer our world. Because of this, our well-being deserves devoted attention and love. When women are fully present and awake for our lives, we change the world in transformative ways.
This is what living pono is all about.
I hope you find inspiration in the stories and insights I’ll be sharing with you here. It is my honor to be your ally and friend along the way!
I am so glad you’re here.
